  • Employees signed up to cover the 1524km between the London and Lodz offices.
  • Hero Labs will donate up to £2000 to Water Aid UK.

Hero Labs, the smart technology business that helps prevent water leaks in properties, today announced that its employees have walked, run, swam or cycled (virtually) from its London HQ to it Lodz office in Poland over the summer to raise money for its nominated charity, Water Aid.

WaterAid UK is an international not-for-profit, determined to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere within a generation.  785 million people in the world – around one in ten people – do not have clean water close to home. Those living without this everyday essential do not have an equal chance to be healthy, educated and financially secure.

Everyone at Hero Labs that signed up to thecharity challenge each travelled part of the 1524km between the two locations.  It took almost two months to smash the target, with Hero Labs donating £1524 – a pound for every mile achieved.  And the challenge is still continuing throughout September with the company pledging a further pound for every additional mile during the final month.

Steve Moore, CEO of Hero Labs said: Now is the time to start saving water. “Clean freshwater is an essential ingredient for a healthy human life, but over a billion people lack access to safe water and, by 2025, two-thirds of the world’s population may be facing water shortages.  This is an issue that is very close to our hearts – not everyone has the luxury of a steady supply of clean water.   As a charity, Water Aid does an incredible job helping build safe water supplies and changing lives for the better.  That’s why we decided to raise money to support this organisation. I’m delighted how so many people at Hero Labs have embraced the challenge that we are doing.  I’ve personally enjoyed lacing up my trainers and seeing how close I could get to our Lodz office over the summer months!”
